Get the skills to excel in project management within the built environment. Three interconnected workshops, each building on the previous one, take you through the full project management life cycle, culminating in real-time application, gaining expert feedback and coaching along the way.

What you will learn:

1. Introduction to Project Management
This foundational course covers the fundamentals of project management specific to industries within the built environment, such as construction, electrical, engineering, and architecture projects. Through seven interactive online modules, participants will:

  • Enhance their understanding of project management principles, attributes, deliverables, constraints, and life cycle phases.
  • Develop skills for effective project initiation, stakeholder engagement, and project charter/scoping.
  • Acquire the knowledge to plan and manage project resources, budgets, risks, and communication.
  • Build expertise in leading and managing project teams, conflict resolution, and teamwork enhancement.
  • Learn techniques for monitoring and controlling project progress and successful project closure.

2. Intermediate Project Management
This intermediate-level course takes project management skills to the next level, focusing on leading complex projects and teams. The seven modules cover:

  • Enhancing managerial communication skills and formulating effective communication processes.
  • Developing team-building and management skills, conflict resolution, and project leadership strategies.
  • Learning the critical path method for effective project scheduling.
  • Gaining expertise in managing project risks and budget control through monitoring and control.
  • Measuring project success and failure and analyzing success and failure criteria.
  • Demonstrating project management techniques through recorded projects and final presentations.

3. Applied Project Management
The culminating course allows participants to focus on a pre-approved mid to high-level project of their choice, applying knowledge gained from the previous courses. The seven interactive modules cover:

  • Developing a project charter and identifying key stakeholders.
  • Defining project requirements, creating a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and establishing a schedule.
  • Identifying and managing project risks.
  • Monitoring and controlling all aspects of the project.
  • Preparing a cost management plan and developing a resource plan.
  • Executing project close-out and effectively presenting key aspects of the project.
  • Presenting a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the project life cycle.
  • Upon completing all three courses, participants earn the Professional Certificate in Project Management, showcasing their mastery of project management through practical application and comprehensive understanding of the project life cycle. This certificate is a testament to your proficiency in leading and managing projects within the built environment.

Format Online | Self-Paced | Interactive

Students complete a sequence of online modules at their own pace, as their schedule permits. Each module may include assigned readings or media, online quizzes, discussion boards, and more. The instructor will guide you through the course, provide feedback, and assessments of your learning.

Time Commitment Three Workshops | 7-Weeks Each | 105 Hours Total

You can expect to commit up to approximately five (5) hours per week on readings, exercises, and assignments.

Flexible (Up to 10-Weeks per Workshop)

This course offers continuous enrollment. You will begin the courses when you are ready and have ten weeks to complete the seven modules required to earn each of your certificates.

What you earn:

Upon completion of all three workshops, you will earn 10.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a Wentworth verified digital credential/certificate of completion to showcase on their resume and online channels. A CEU is not an academic credit; however, it is a nationally recognized standard of documenting the successful completion of non-degree professional training. One CEU is equivalent to ten instructional hours.
